For Native American Heritage Month, we welcomed a visiting student who shared her Navajo culture with our children. She taught the meaning behind her traditional attire, the purpose of each movement in her dance, and the history of her people—whose ancestors were among the first people of what is now Idaho.

The children were mesmerized as she performed a traditional dance in full regalia. The experience was so impactful that we will now be offering ongoing Native American cultural workshops, where Shania, our visiting teacher, will teach the meaning of Pow Wow dance, cultural protocols, and the history and resilience of her community.

Para el Mes de la Herencia Nativa Americana, recibimos a una estudiante que compartió con los niños su cultura Navajo. Ella explicó el significado de su vestimenta tradicional, el propósito de cada movimiento en su danza y la historia de su pueblo—cuyos ancestros fueron algunos de los primeros habitantes de lo que hoy es Idaho.
